Review of Miami Yavo DVD

Review of Miami Yavo DVD

Over the years, the quality of frum Video/DVD’s that have been released greatly improved. Just a short ten years ago, these productions were almost not worth watching. It’s hence bewildering to observe how in such a short period of time, the quality has completely improved. When I turned on this new Miami Yavo DVD I was totally amazed. This video premiers recordings mixed from the last two Miami Yavo concerts. One was held recently in New Jersey over sukkos, and the second in Brooklyn College on Chol Chaomed Pesach. The video and sound quality is so clear that I was having a hard time believing what I was seeing. Filmed from many different angles, you watch this and start to feel as if you are live in the room. As I am writing this I looked back on the last Miami DVD, Miami Revach, and its amazing to see even from something just three years ago, how much the DVD quality has improved.

Yerachmiel Begun got very innovative in this production. Not only are you able to watch the DVD with the music, but you are also given the option to enjoy a second audio track with Begun giving commentary on each song. He talks about all the details behind what you are seeing. This feature really allows people to understand how many details go in to creating a show like this. For the first half of the commentary Begun has a partner who he is talks over with it. Then for the second half you hear the kids give their commentary!

Bonus features on this disk include a very nice interview with Menachem Tucker from the voice of Israel Radio. The Miami Revach DVD had a great feature like this where it followed the kids to a show in Miami (an all time favorite clip), so this DVD follows in the steps that with this interview. Tucker spends some time talking with some of the kids from the choir which is very cute. At the end of the clip you see allot of the new choir members. Watching the show makes you look at the kids as performers, so this interview really puts you back in your place to see them as kids. Other bonus features include the studio recording of Mayim Hashem, and a very interesting video showing Maimi over the years with the Moshaich song in the background.

Overall if you are a Miami fan than this is a must to add to your collection. It’s well worth every penny. I played the DVD a few days ago for some kids that I know. It took about three minutes until they got up, and were dancing in front of the screen. Its that good.

  1. I love it too. Singing along, dancing before the TV, it's a great DVD. Mike in Ramat Razi'el.
